STARDUST FOR CHRISTMAS

Heatin’ Up the Holidays, 1940’s Style

Harlequin Productions’ STARDUST series has been lighting up the holidays for audiences of all ages for fourteen years!

It’s the most popular holiday event in the south Puget Sound region and a “must-see” holiday tradition for thousands. This year’s episode, STARDUST FOR CHRISTMAS, opens Thursday, Nov. 20,

and runs all the way through the end of the year. In addition, on opening night Harlequin Productions will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the grand opening of their home at the State Theater.

The STARDUST series is an extraordinary success story. Each year the show features a live jazz band, an array of dynamite performers and an original script with an exciting mix of 1940’s singin’, swingin’ and laughin’ out loud comedy. This year’s production will incorporate a ”gypsy jazz” sound for a fun new groove, and feature five performers brought in from Portland and Chicago.

STARDUST FOR CHRISTMAS takes place in the Stardust Club in lower Manhattan on the morning  of Christmas Eve, 1941. The club is in an uproar. One of the star performers, Loretta Mae, has just bought the club from the former owner, Tony–with her life savings and the help of a loan shark! Tony’s wife has just discovered that her husband has skipped town (and his family)–apparently with Loretta Mae’s cash-money! But when the mob shows up to torch the building, things really heat up. Despite the complications of day to day life, however, the show must go on! Who owns the building? Should the gangsters be allowed to perform? Who’s been bilked and who’s foolin’ who? Will the club survive the holidays? Dress up slick and strut on down to the Stardust Club to find out! It’s a magical, musical treat for the holidays.

The cast for STARDUST FOR CHRISTMAS includes Harlequin veterans Russ Holm, LaVon Hardison, Courtney Freed, Megan Carver, Adrian David Robinson, Kevin McManus, and new-comers Sammuel Hawkins, Louise Clare Stinson and Jessica Blinn.  Band members include Bruce Whitney, Vince Brown, Dan Blunck, Rick Jarvela, Keith Anderson and Syd Potter.
Written by Harlowe Reed, set design and direction by Linda Whitney, musical direction by Bruce Whitney, choreography by Megan Carver, fight choreography by Bob Macdougall,  lighting design by Kate Arvin, costume design by Lucy Gentry, sound design by Keith Jewell.
